St George's Day Parade Exeter
On Sunday there was the annual St George's Day parade in Exeter by all the various Scouting and Guide groups. I remember being a flag bearer myself when I was in the Cub Scouts, proud moments for those involved this year.

Exeter Fountain Project
For a 2 week period over Easter, Princesshay in Exeter hosts a sculpture by local artist Simon Ruscoe, his vision is that this and other work by him would be situated in water which would create stunning reflections and would be further enhanced via floodlights.
More detail on the artist and the Exeter Foundation Project can be found at http://www.simonruscoe.co.uk
I grabbed a few shots today just as it started raining...

Family Tree by Heraldic Artist Neil Bromley
I've recently had the honour of photographing a masterpiece of heraldic art and calligraphy by Devon artist Neil Bromley http://www.calligraphyandheraldry.com he can also be found on Facebook
This is a family tree commission, it took a colossal 1,800 hours of work over 4 years to complete, it's a huge 5' x 4' in size on stretched vellum, incredibly detailed and finished in 23 carat gold leaf.
The overall photo really doesn't do it justice at computer screen size, but I photographed it using my Nikon D800 so the images could print at A2 in size or even larger via giclee. To try to give a better idea of the quality and detail I've also shown some cropped areas and close ups.

Easter Bonnet Parade Lyme Regis
Yesterday on Easter Sunday I attended the Easter Bonnet judging and parade at Lyme Regis, an event which has been held for the last 15 years.
Judging was held in the Baptist Church Hall with lots of prizes awarded in all these categories, 0-3 years, 4-5 years, 6-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-15 years, Ladies, Gentlemen, Group/Couple, Best Overall in the 0-5 years catergory, Best Overall Entry. Following the prize there was a parade down Broad Street and along the sea front to the Jubilee Pavilion.
As usual my photos speak for themselves, I'm afraid I didn't make any notes of names or winners but think the pics capture the atmosphere, a lot of people made a great effort and had fun!
If you or your children feature in any of the photos in the Baptist Church Hall and you'd like them removed, I will do so by request. If you'd like to supply any captions with names, I'll gladly add them to the photos.
